ANNE YARROW
Anne Yarrow, violinist, conductor, college professor
and music scholar holds Bachelor and Master Degrees in Music from Yale
University's School of Music where she was a scholarship student of Joseph
Fuchs.
Further studies were with Nadia Boulanger in France,
Helen Airoff Dowling in New York and Switzerland and
Maxim Jacobsen in Portugal. She received a PhD in musicology
and violin performance from New York University.
Dr. Yarrow was a member of several violin/piano duos
and violinist with The Musinger Players, a vocal/instrumental chamber
ensemble, and the Chimes of Hope, a trio with vocalist Lloyd E.
Dees and pianist Laurel Tompkins.
Since 1990 she has been active in performing and promoting
the works of living composers.
Currently she is on the music faculties of the Aaron
Copland School of Music at Queens College and Molloy College, Rockville
Centre, New York, where she founded and conducts the Molloy College Community
Orchestra.
Throughout the years she has been asked to judge numerous
musical competitions and to serve on selections committees and Arts Councils.
In the last five years, Dr. Yarrow has recorded and produced
several albums. They include Jeanne Singer: A Memorial Tribute,
Adoration, (a collection of solo works for violin and piano) and the
1930's:
Violin and Piano Sonatas, with Swiss pianist Caspar Dechmann.
She is presently focusing on violin/piano works from
Baroque to Modern. The first volume, Old Masters with pianist Avraham
Sternklar has already been released.
Later this year works by Edvard Grieg and Charles Ives
will be available on the Gryphon Records Label.

STERNKLAR
Avraham Sternklar’s concert career began in Israel
where his early studies took place.
Concerts followed both as recitalist and soloist with
the Israel Philharmonic and Jerusalem Symphony.
When Leonard Bernstein met Sternklar, he was truly impressed
with his talent urging him to come to the USA for advanced studies.
Upon his arrival to this country he was awarded scholarships
for study at the Juilliard School of Music for five consecutive years.
He traveled coast to coast and abroad, often appearing
in the triple role of pianist, composer and lecturer.
He performed in concerts at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, The National Gallery in Washington, The Stratford Festival. Also as artist with such prominent ensembles as The Hofstra String Quartet, The Cantilena Trio, The Bayview Chamber Players and piano soloist with orchestras conducted by Jascha Horenstein, Seymour Rubinstein, Karel Solomon and Paul Rudoff.
Sternklar held the office of Co-Director of The Long Island
Composers Alliance for six years and in that capacity he played a major
role in performing new music.
He has served as Associate Professor of Piano Performance
at the Aaron
Copland School of Music at Queens College, the faculties
of The Brandeis Institute of the West and the 92nd Street Y.
His compositions are published, recorded and performed
by soloists and ensembles on an international level, most recently in Malaysia,
Japan and Taiwan.
He is the recipient of many awards among them 18 "Meet
the Composer" awards, 3
"Best of the Year" awards from The Piano Quarterly
Magazine and Men of Achievement Award. His biography appears in 17 WHO
IS WHO’s including the International Who is Who in Music.
At present Sternklar continues his work as a composer
and concert pianist, specializing in chamber music and contemporary repertory.
He teaches privately at his Plainview studio where over the years he has
been instrumental in launching the careers of hundreds of talented young
musicians.

Sternklar and Dr. Yarrow
have shared in the joy of making music together for a number of years,
appearing repeatedly in recitals throughout Long Island.
